Mashups
I find this whole mashup thing amazing... Google Maps mashups seem to be the most prevalent.
Dig a Hole is a silly example of a mashup, but who doesn't want to know where they'd end up if they dug a hole straight through the earth? Most of Massachusetts (and perhaps New England) ends up somewhere off the coast of Australia, btw.
The Homes Sold Tool is a mashup built by Fidelity Labs. You can check out what homes in your neighborhood sold for (and when they sold). It's not too much of a stretch to see some pretty sophisticated trending coming out of this mashup as well. More disruption in the real estate industry probably is good for consumers.
This is a cool blog that tracks Google Maps mashups.
Finally, you may be wondering how I got started on this and decided to post? Well, I get a monthly newsletter called TrendWatching and it's got to be one of the best doses of brain candy I get on a regular basis. Check out the most recent issue on infolust.
