Notes from the Road

Hi there - A friend just pointed me in the direction of a cool web site called Notes from the Road. The depth of the writing and beautiful photos make this site a very interesting diversion. In particular, I really enjoyed the entry called A Pomeranian Feast. Cheers!

Christmas Cards

My wife and I spent close to two hours last night putting together our holiday cards. What an endeavor! We purchased photo cards from Shutterfly and wrote an letter summarizing our year with the girls to include in the envelope. Imagine our surprise when we found that the envelopes supplied with the photo cards were just about 8 1/4 inches wide! So, we added a step in the process and I started trimming 100 letters with scissors.

During the trimming, my mind wandered and I wondered aloud whether Hallmark has lost significant market share in the holiday card business? Does anyone know? The whole photo card phenomena seems to be a relatively recent one, I can't only imagine they've taken business from the old line card companies...

Getting Started

Well, I finally took the plunge and decided to start blogging. Who knows where this will lead, but I figured it's time for me to get started...

I've been reading a friend's blog for a few months and like this method of information sharing. I hope I can be nearly as interesting as David. We'll see...

I work for Shared Insights, so the whole concept of peer-based information sharing is very "near and dear" to me. We're working on bringing together networks of IT professionals to help them share best practices and insights with one another. We're very early stage in an industry just beginning to open up, so we spend a bit of time re-setting how we position ourselves and what our products look like. It's cool being part of an internet start-up after the window has "closed" on the internet age. We'll make a go of it...

Stay tuned.
